Microsoft Open-Sources Windows Subsystem for Linux
Well here’s a turn up: Microsoft just released the source code for Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), making its nifty fully open source after almost a decade of development. The tech giant announced the news at its BUILD 2025 event, where it made some other open-source related announcements, including its own CLI text editor called Edit, and the code for WSL is already up on GitHub for interested devs to grapple with.
